Table rowspan and colspan are not as intuitive but are not hard to do.

In case of calculator example built using grid , we need to use a lot of template areas and hence makes up for a nice example to demonstrate how to use grid. But it uses a lot more css lines. Hence in professional development cases, we should use table is what I think.
